Cronkshaw Fold Farm, Infectious Coryza, 26.8.16

As I’m on a work experience placement and a small animal practice, I showed the pictures to the vet. He agreed on Infectious Coryza and told me that individual pet hens would be treated with antibiotic injections. But even in this case, they often won’t recover.

Also, a hen that was sneezing last night was found dead by Hayley this morning.

Sneezing is a symptom of infectious Coryza and this is a new hen. It possibly brought it with it. I’m going to the farm as soon as I can to check on the hens in isolation and the other animals!

*update*

The hen seems to have improved, I used a syringe to help it to drink to make sure it stays hydrated and washed it’s eyes out.
